-I chose these three pictures because they spoke to me the most out of everything I was looking for. The first picture is of a newspaper stating that 20,000 people die each day from poverty. I think because of the fact that we are all so fortunate to live in the United States where you can always receive help, we tend to forget the extent of the pain and suffering in other places in the world that we can help with. The second picture is of an assortment of drugs. This is also a problem in the world. People die every day from overdosing. It is so easy for people to get drugs and use them as a way "to escape from the world." Lastly, the third picture is of an excessively skinny model. Recently designers have started to turn models away from walking in their runway shows because they are too thin. She is emaciated looking and it is apparent that she is anorexic or bulimic. I believe with time, each devastation will get better.

A1/A2 Assignment

English A1/A2 assignment:
(I asked my dad, Tim Cunningham, these 10 questions: )

1. How quickly did I learn new things as a small child?
-You were a cautious learner, but you caught on quickly once you examined it.
2. Was I eager to learn when I was younger?
-Yes, because you grew up in a house with either two adults and also two older siblings, so you were exposed to a lot of new things very often that you were curious about and wanted to be a part of.
3. Did I like to read and write when I was a child?
-You like to be read to more than you liked to read when you were a young child. Although as you got older you did enjoy reading magazines and book that were assigned to you in school. You did like to draw and write and be able to create new things because you had an artistic flair, especially with color.
4. What subjects did I seem the most interested in when I was younger in school?
-You seemed to really enjoy English when you were very young, but as you grew older, you started to like Sciences.
5. Did I always turn in my assignments on time?
-Yes, we never had a problem with you turning your assignments in on time but you did have a habit of procrastinating.
6. Did I ever get into trouble at school as a young girl?
-No, you never got in trouble in school, but occasionally you had a tendency to talk too much during class.
7. What type of student or learner would you say that I was or still am?
-You are interactive learner. You liked someone telling you things and you could tell them back. Most of the time, you liked to have the music on while you did your homework or studied. You were always a good student that did all of her work. You liked to talk about the new things that you learned as a method to help you better understand the new material.
8. What did I like to do outside of school when I was younger?
-You liked to play around in these little cars we got you and your sisters when you were very young. When you were a little older you liked to ride your bike, play with dolls, spend time with your neighborhood friends, ice skate, help us cook dinner, play with the dog, and just play outside when the weather was nice.
9. If there was one job (career choice) that you think I would be best at what would it be and why?
-I think there are several careers that you would be good at but I think I would push you to explore a career that lets you deal with people on a regular basis, and one in which you could be creative and imaginative. I could see you being an interior decorator, in a field in medicine, or even a psychologist.
10. If you could wish for one thing for me to accomplish in my life what would it be?
-I hope that you would know yourself and be able to focus on your goals without distractions interfering in order to accomplish what you want. I hope that your life is all that you wished for it to be and I don’t doubt the world from you.

*My history with technology:
-When I was a little girl I used to love to play games on the computer. My parents would buy me educational computer games so that I was learning and having fun at the same time. I also loved playing Nintendo games with my sisters and friends. When I went to middle school we had to take a semester of computer typing each year. Then my first year of high school, we were required to take a typing class there as well. I am used to computers and technology. I was always very interested as a young girl in new children’s games that would come out. I had to even teach my parents and sister how to text and I am a speed demon! I use the computer every day. Not only do I use my laptop to do my homework, but I also use it to listen to music, browse the internet, check my facebook, talk to friends, and email.
*My experiences in past English courses:
-I always enjoyed taking English classes in the past. I like to read and most of the books we read I have benefited from. I really enjoyed reading The Good Earth and Night in high school. They were two books that really impacted my life. I always liked writing; especially in middle school before I had to start writing research papers. I took advanced English when I was in middle school and I had such a hard teacher. She would make us do so much work, it was impossible to have a life. All of the parents used to have to help their children with the work load. What I did not realize at the time was that the teacher I had was preparing me for college in the 8th grade. The hardest English teacher I have had was my 11th grade teacher but I really enjoyed her class. I do not think she gave anyone A’s in the class. You can say I like the English subject, but only when it is in a relaxed environment.
*Arguing:
-I do believe I am good at persuading people. I am good at getting my point across in a way that is not overpowering or demanding. I can make people see where I am coming from and agree with what I have to say even if it is not what they believe. I think everyone is able to do that for their own advantage. I think that everyone has to be able to persuade in all aspects of life whether it is proving that you deserve a job, a grade, or convincing a parent that you should be able to do something you want to do.
*My writing process:
-I do tend to procrastinate, so my writing process can at times be a little rushed. Normally I make an outline and jot points down that I know I want to get across. Then I look at all my ideas I wrote down and also at the order of my outline, and put some of the ideas together while rearranging the outline. Then I write as I move along and revise it however many times it takes until I am satisfied with the work I have created. Normally I like to be in a quiet room with a lot of space and light if I am writing. Occasionally I will have music playing to help me. I like to have popcorn and a drink, or some sort of snack around me while I write in peace.
*Other facts about me:
-I am normally a very calm person. I do get flustered very easily if I lose things or break anything. I don’t like things to be out of order. I love clothes and I believe I have an eye for color and what looks good together. I really do not enjoy math here at Clemson. I am in Calculus and it is very hard. I have two older sisters. One is married and pregnant, and one is engaged so my life is exciting right now! J I am originally from Florence where my dad lives, but my mom moved to Columbia this past summer so I go back and forth. I have two cats and a dog. I live in Lever and I love it!
